Cranbrook School was founded in 1518 as a result of a legacy in John Blubery’s will providing land and buildings within which to found a freeschool for the children of Cranbrook.
As a forerunner to the 500th anniversary in 2018, the Trustees of Cranbrook School have commissioned a history of the School throughout these five centuries. They asked Peter Allen, a highly regarded Deputy Head of the School for 23 years until 1993, the honorary archivist of the School since the 1980’s and a renowned local historian, to write this history and are delighted to announce its publication. They are incredibly thankful to him for the commitment to this enterprise over the last 5 years, which has led to the creation of such a superb book to mark such an important milestone in the life of the School.
