About the event:

Dispelling the myths about so-called ‘soft’ drugs such as vaping, cannabis, ecstasy and alcohol, Dr Sigman will explain the links with mental health, addiction and school grades and go on to advise parents on what they can do and say to their children to prevent drug use and abuse and the risks linked with this.

Aric lectures on PSHE health education at schools, to parents, at medical schools and to NHS doctors.  As a psychologist he has worked on teenage health education campaigns with the Department of Health and his main interest is in protecting mental and physical health and preventing problems.  He is the author of several peer reviewed medical papers on addictions and other health and development subjects and has written many books, including "Alcohol Nation: How to protect our children from today's drinking culture".

"Dr Sigman is an excellent public speaker, particularly in the areas of PSHE and children.  He delivers an inspiring keynote, is professional and very engaging.  Highly recommended."

Aric will speak to pupils during the day - this talk is aimed specifically at parents and is not suitable for children.
